Growing up, I've been blessed to be raised by a family who told me that I could do anything I set my mind to. They emphasized the importance of hard work and dedication which has allowed me to see that I can achieve anything I want if I work towards it. They allowed me to have the freedom to be my most authentic self and all the mistakes that come with it as they are essential to growth. These values have had a substantial impact on my life and led me to be the founder of my own non-profit at 16 years old.
I created Girls Steps to Success because I knew that I wanted to make an impact on my community. Specifically, I knew that I wanted to target girls my age and help them feel like they had a voice and could be inspired by girls like them. I wanted to create something that instilled the same values my family had set for me.
The word 'success' has always been an important word to me. I'm a very competitive person and I've always wanted to be "the best". Whether it was being first chair in my orchestra, or making the varsity track team my freshman year, or getting all A's in my classes. But what I've learned, as corny as it sounds, is that success has nothing to do with the destination, and everything to do with the journey. So the name, "Girls Steps to Success" means the journey of girls becoming the best version of themselves.
